Maureen Todd – Irene Roth
Maureen followed her parents into the world of Gilbert and Sullivan with The Savoy Club, Glasgow at the age of 16 and has been involved in amateur theatre ever since. She has performed mainly in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas over the years but also in plays, musicals and concerts. Her favourite G&S roles have been Mabel in Pirates of Penzance and the title role of Princess Ida and she was thrilled to be nominated for best female voice at the Buxton International G&S Festival in 2000. Her favourite musical roles have been Eliza in My Fair Lady with Stirling and Bridge of Allan Operatic Society and, most recently, Peggy Macroon in Whisky Galore with Windmill Productions. She has been performing with the Lyric Club since 2004 when she played Grace Farrell in Annie, a role she reprised for the club last year which was extra special because she shared the stage with her daughter, Samantha as one of the orphans. She is delighted to be back with The Lyric Club again this year playing Irene Roth
When not on stage she is a research nurse, chair of the school parent teacher fundraiser committee and sings in a band called The Dynaglides. She would like to thank her husband Andrew and children Samantha and Christopher for all their ongoing support and encouragement and for letting her out to rehearse!
